Question by SD2007: What neighborhood in Montreal, Canada would be the best to stay in during late March?
I am going to Montreal in late March. I would like to try the boutique hotel experience and have found some great places in Old Montreal and in the Lation Quarter. Which area would be better to stay in during the month of March? I want to be near things so that I don’t have to drive around or take too many cab or train rides. I don’t want it to be completely dead, but I don’t mind a little quiet. I would like any hotel or restaurant suggestions you have, but really need to know which neighborhood is the best during March.

Best answer:

Answer by Châteauguay
The Latin Quarter is much more enjoyable than Old Montreal, which gets too many American tourists. The Latin Quarter has or is close to many excellent restaurants and the major French shopping streets of small shops and boutiques.

Tour de L’ile de Montreal – Cycling in the rain during the 50 km Tour de L’ile de Montreal (Tour of the island) during Montreal Bike Fest, an annual week long cycling festival. Taken on June 6, 2010.

About 35000 cyclists participate in this event last year, making it one of the largest event of its distance in the world. Even the rain can’t put to damper to their spirits.

While I didn’t mind the rain .. my cameras did mind it as they couldn’t be held out more than a few seconds (I was planning to record a video of the journey and time lapse it). This was an attempt to get a panned reflection, which thankfully came out well.
