Calgary Stampede

Tuesday, February 14th, 2006 | Alberta, Calgary, Calgary Stampede, Canada, Car Rentals, Hotels / Motels, Misc with No Comments »

The Calgary Stampede in 2005 was held from July 8-17.

It is the city’s world famous annual summer bash, when we all become cowboys for 10 days of hair-down, heel-stompin’, wild West partying.

There is Western music playing everywhere around the city of Calgary, free pancake breakfasts all over town, and you may even find a horse in a parking stall.

At Stampede Park itself, there is a bone-jarring rodeo every afternoon, the ‘half mile of hell’ chuckwagon races every evening, followed by a glitzy, family-friendly stage spectacular. This is one of the main highlights of the Calgary Stampede. Read the rest of this entry »

Book Your Hotel for Calgary Stampede

Saturday, February 11th, 2006 | Calgary Stampede, Car Rentals, Hotels / Motels, Misc with No Comments »

If you have not booked your room for the Calgary Stampede you need to get it done.  Rooms and car rentals are booked up early.  It may already be hard to get some rooms at some of the hotels close to the Stampede park and downtown.

The Fairmont Palliser hotel is a historical hotel that is known around the world.  it is probably booked but give it a shot.  The Fairmont Palliser, (formerly known simply as the Palliser Hotel) is a hotel of the Canada-based Fairmont Hotels and Resorts chain. The historic hotel is located in downtown Calgary, Alberta on 9th Avenue South adjacent to the Calgary Tower and Palliser Square. It is among the city’s oldest and most luxurious hotels.

The hotel opened June 1, 1914. Like all of the oldest Canadian hotels in the Fairmont chain, it was built by the Canadian Pacific Railway and was a property of Canadian Pacific Hotels and Resorts (CP Hotels) until the company purchased Fairmont and changed their name to Fairmont Hotels and Resorts in 1999. The hotel was named after Captain John Palliser, who was an explorer in the region during the 1850s. Architect Lawrence Gotch designed the Edwardian building with a characteristic Chicago look. The building is 12 stories high and contains around 350 rooms. It has been renovated and expanded a number of times throughout its history.

It is an amazing hotel and people come from around the world just to stay in this hotel.

There are a variety of other hotels ana few nice bed and breakfasts throughout the town.  The Twin Gables is a beautiful home with owners that are amazing and can cook one of the best breakfasts in town!  I have personnaly stayed here and highly recommend it as one of my favorite places to stay.

Other than that you are on your own.  You need to get your room and car rental now.  Don’t waste another day.  If you have any questions let me know.
